Gossip

Standard

Although I am rarely the one who initiates gossip, I can’t say I exemplify the highest standard of dealing with those that do.  In fact, if the gossip is about someone I personally have an issue with, then I do get a certain satisfaction that others may share my feelings about that person.  My gossiping really more often takes on the form of ‘complaining about’ rather than actual mean-spirited ‘gossip’.  Did I just try to pull a semantical fast one???  Shame on me…

I recognize that those that gossip usually do so to make themselves appear superior.  Unfortunately, the opposite occurs.  Just like I couldn’t really hide behind the semantics twist I attempted (e.g. complain vs. gossip) neither can a gossiper avoid revealing their true nature.  Those who gossip do it to take the pressure off themselves, and make themselves feel superior. I use to think they were just mean but now I recognize that they feel so bad about themselves they have to belittle other people or things.  I only recognize this because I have known it in myself.

When I’m feeling good about me, my life, the people and blessings that surround me, the last thing I want is negativity to enter the picture.  I want to keep the good feelings and keep the contentment going.  I want to share laughter and smiles and enjoy other people who think life is good too.  Call me delusional but I don’t want anyone else’s negativity to have any weight in my world.

I like my happy place today; it’s called my life.
